Online maths tuition,
tailored to you.

Wherever you may be, Altitude Maths Tutoring can help.

Altitude Maths offer full school curriculum-based weekly maths lessons online. With dual webcams, you can see exactly what its happening at all times, meaning you never miss a new method or skill. All that’s required is a laptop or PC, ideally with a webcam and microphone, and a willing student. Stuck on some homework in-between lessons? Send us an email, and we’ll be happy to help. Extra revision session needed in the run-up to exams? If the space is available its all yours. We are happy to liaise with teachers (with your permission of course), and can provide regular parent updates as to how your student is doing. We are there for the student, so whilst we are fully prepared before every lesson with an appropriate subject or skill, if the student wants to cover something else that day then that’s what we will do. We work to the the exact needs of the student, at a speed that ensures full understanding before moving on - be that slowly, quickly or somewhere in-between.

Functional Skills Level 2
Adult learning

Many employers and course providers require a proficiency in mathematics, and there is the Functional Skills Level 1 and 2 certificate to provide proof of your skills. Altitude Maths works to your current ability, from just needing help with exam revision, and a few reminders, to fully re-learning maths having not opened a maths book in years, we can help at every stage.

The curriculum is remarkably similar to a foundation GCSE, and as such, we have years of experience in the areas required.
Problem solving, mathematical reasoning, and the ability to break down problems are all essential skills at this stage. Students need to be skilled in moving in-between mathematical concepts, be fluent in the fundamentals of mathematics, and have a deep understanding so as to be able to recall relevant knowledge for the task at hand.

With the full curriculum available for all examining boards, Altitude Maths can help in a multitude of ways, from refreshing subject areas, to learning new skills, and removing any uncertainty by adding confidence so that the student can face any maths problem head-on. We can help with homework, revision for tests, mocks, and of course the exams themselves.

The Functional Skills curriculum includes:

  • Numbers

  • Algebra

  • Ratio, proportion and rates of change

  • Geometry and measures

  • Probability

  • Statistics

  • Advancing the maths fluency in the above from KS3, and using these concepts combined to solve more complex problems, and under exam conditions.

Key Stage 3
Years 7, 8 and 9

Having completed primary school, its now time to put it all together. A big leap from KS2, students learn to use their knowledge and skills in harder and more complex maths problems. It involves joining concepts together for reasoning and multi-step problem solving, and see how maths interlinks with life and its practical applications. Maths will appear in other subjects too - especially in science, IT and technology.

Students can need personalised lessons in these vital years - to some maths can begin to seem overwhelming, to others they may want that extra bit of help and understanding to reach their full potential that takes their maths to the next level. Altitude Maths helps with these and much more, along with constant confidence building along the way.

Altitude Maths has the full KS3 curriculum available, for Edexcel and AQA.

The KS3 curriculum includes:

  • Numbers

  • Algebra

  • Ratio, proportion and rates of change

  • Geometry and measures

  • Probability

  • Statistics

There are only four* things you can do to a number:
Add it, subtract it, multiply it or divide it.
And you probably already know these!
The key is knowing what ones to do where, and why…

*Well, there is also modular forms, which is a complex analytic function on the upper half-plane satisfying a certain kind of functional equation with respect to the group action of the modular group, and also satisfying a growth condition. But I expect that you already knew that.
